Can My Windshield Chip Be Fixed?

Rock chips vary in shape and size and depend on the damage incurred on the glass. Your biggest concerns are location and size.

Our pros have a list of three different types and can tell you whether they can be repaired or if you need a replacement.

Angles Right Icon Bullseye Chips

Bullseyes are notorious for having a separated cone that goes into the outer layer of the glass, creating an impact point outlined by a dark circle.

If the damage is one inch or smaller and does not obstruct the driver's vision, it typically only needs to be repaired.

Angles Right Icon Half Moon

The half moon rock chips are similar to the bullseye, but they only have half instead of a full circle in the center and occur from the prior rocks hitting the windshield at odd angles.

While this can make them more challenging to repair, if the damage is an inch or smaller, you may not need a replacement in most cases.

Angles Right Icon Star Break

This type of chip gets its name from its shape: it has cracks protruding from the middle because the impact happened from a central point.

In most cases, a star break rock chip can also be repaired as long as it doesn't block the driver's visibility and doesn't exceed three inches.

Our team works with all insurance providers and is here to help. If you have a rock chip and have questions or concerns, contact our team to schedule your repair.
